EARTH, WIND, & (COAL) FIRE

On Wednesday, April 19, 2017 over 130 Utah legislators, spouses, and staff loaded up three buses and headed to southwest Utah on a fact finding tour. The central issues of Southwest Utah studied by #UTLEG were agriculture, energy, and tourism. UTLEG visited Millard, Beaver, Iron, Garfield, Piute, and Sevier counties. While the sites visited on the tour included:

  • Intermountain Power Project
  • Magnum Salt Dome Storage
  • Sun Edison/First Wind windmill power project
  • Smithfield/Circle Four Farms Hog Operation
  • Utah Red Hills solar power project
  • Southern Utah University
  • Beverly Taylor Sorenson Center for the Arts/Engelstad Theater
  • Bryce Canyon National Park
  • Butch Cassidy Boyhood Cabin
  • Piute High School
  • Central Utah Correctional Facility (Gunnison Prison)
  • Gunnison Middle School
