Only in Salt Lake County.
More importantly, is there any accountability for taxpayers' money? I've read the range of $3,600-$7,800 is spent per student in various publications. Some of this money, where the cost to educate each student gets confused with the state spending on each student, is where all Utah taxpayers get credit for Federal and local money spent. Cost seems to be based on opinion, not fact, just like vouchers, is there a straight answer to how much vouchers will cost? Do you listen to the LFA or Bramble?
No one seems to disagree Utah ranks last in funding, at least there is some certainty in life.
"Overwhelming effort" ? Hogwash. Did you not read the Utah Foundation's "Paradox Lost"? We are in the middle for effort, above average for results, dead stinking last in funding.
It's not a conspiracy. School current expenditure data has always been collected and presented this way across the country to enable apples to apples comparisons and to measure what is being spent inside the facilities. Including capital costs, that vary so much from year to year, distorts trends and precludes comparisons. It's just one tool. So don't blame the hammer if you pick up a screwdriver.
I will blame the cherry picker when I pick up a magnifying glass.
