We're not going to go there, Anon.
I am impressed, wonder why this happened? Could you make the Nuremburgish anti immigrant laws go away too? Maybe study them for a year and give our new Dem president and congress a chance to do their jobs?
This is indeed some excellent news. Please don't let it out of rules. It should die a timely death there. Now, on a different note. I concur with wp. Could we please do what is best for the state, and not just what is politically expedient for those aspiring to higher elected position, with regards to illegal immigration legislation?
Can we also put the bills' sponsor (Sen. Buttars) in Rules and not let him come back out?
WP and Barbara...I am sure our state legislators would be more than happy to allow Congress to do something about immigration...if they would do it. On this subject, Congress has been an abject FAILURE in deterring illegal immigration.
So for right now, this is a good idea.
Sorry Jennie. WP and Barbara are absolutely right. It is the Federal Government's job to secure the borders. If that policy isn't being done to your liking let them know about it. Punishing the children of immigrants by making them pay more for school and putting the rest of us in more danger on our roads by taking away driving permits are silly punitive measures that won't help cut down on our illegal immigrant population at all.
Punishing illegal immigrants does make for good Republican Party politics in our rather homogeneous and intolerant state but that doesn't make it good policy.
I am glad to see the bill S.B. 267 go back to Rules.
From what I am reading, this purpose of this bill is to keep a lower government entity from recognizing a domestic partnership other than marriage, among other things associated with that recognition.
What good, if any, does this do for the State of Utah? What was Senator Buttars' purpose for this bill? I'm sorry, I just don't see where the man is coming from with this.
it is nice to see this one die a timely death. Lets get on with important things, please. Looks to me like the legislature has some hard work ahead as they attempt todeal with this new and skinnier-than-anticipated budget.
