These comments are laughable. All of you are clamoring for a citizen's commission to run ethics, to run redistricting and blah, blah blah. Well, this recommendation for the raise came from one of those citizen's commissions - supposedly your peers, not political peers. So, are you happy with the result? If you want better government, quit whining on the blogs and get out of your chair and get involved. VOTE, help good candidates, and recruit good candidates or run for office yourselves. We get what we deserve because we keep abdicating our responsibilities to citizen's commissions, laws to limit terms, crazy ethics laws that are meaningless, all because we are too lazy to get off our backsides and do a little leg work for our free government. There was a time when the people would read something like the Federalist papers and it made a difference. I wonder if any of you bloggers have read them yourselves - or if you would read something so intellectually taxing...
Yeah, you guys are so benevolent, it makes my eyes water. You're only in it for the good of the people. Bull. Most of you benefit 1000 fold for your time in the legislature by passing bills to help yourselves and your donors if not by direct graft.
