For the fourth year in a row, Utah was ranked first in the nation for economic outlook by the American Legislative Exchange Council. A Utah Taxpayers Association press conference today featured Jonathan Williams, one of the authors of the study, with Governor Gary Herbert, Senate President Michael Waddoups, and House Speaker Rebecca Lockhart.

The US is demographically diverse. We have large portions of our population living in poverty. People living in poverty tend to have higher rates of smoking, drug addiction, pregnancy out of wedlock and obesity. Needless to say the cost of taking care of these people is extremely high.
