Where did your taxes go?
You paid a lot of tax (thank you). We balanced the state budget (you’re welcome). But how exactly did we balance the budget? Did we allocate the right amount in the right places?

Budget Report

If you have been following the TC-23’s this year, you know that our collection of revenues has been ugly. There seems to be some slowness with the State Tax Commission due in part to budget cuts that have reduced the part-time workers they have used in the past to open the envelopes that arrive with the April 15th deadline but there is not enough checks to cover the current shortfall. We don’t know the figures until well after the fiscal year ends of June 30th but we have structured our rainy day fund so as to cover any shortfalls this fiscal year but if the reduced levels of income continue as now projected, this could have a serious impact on the budget for FY 2011. I become a little concerned when I hear better numbers on the national scene but I know we are not manipulating figures so we have what we have and must live within the revenues received. If you or anyone you know has not paid their taxes (any kind) so far this year, please get them paid so I can sleep better at night.
Seriously that is awesome. Thanks for this guy!
