Senator Bramble Receives Sunshine Award for SB 177
Out of the 2011 firestorm that was HB 477 came a repeal, a working group and another piece of legislation that did not receive nearly the same exposure.
SB 177, proposed in the 2012 session by Senator Curt Bramble, was the cleanup bill for HB 477. It created threshold definitions for privacy and disclosure rules for public official’s communications. The bill passed unanimously in both the House and Senate. There were no opposing testimonies given in the committee hearings. Everyone seemed happy.
In recognition for his work, the Utah chapter for the Society of Professional Journalism awarded Senator Curtis S. Bramble the Sunshine Award for 2012.
The Sunshine Award is presented annually to “the person who has furthered the cause of open government.”
